Weekly Tip: Organize Your Digital Information with eProductivity Reference

This week we're kicking off a tip series on eProductivity Reference, the free companion application to eProductivity that provides a great place for storing all kinds of digital information.

In Part 1, we'll give you a brief overview of eProductivity Reference and show you how to get up and running. In upcoming weeks, we'll look at best practices, Quick Capture & Quick Paste, checklists, email filing tips, and much more. So stay tuned!
eProductivity Reference Overview
eProductivity Reference is an excellent enhancement to your eProductivity experience. Plus, it's free!

Inside of eProductivity Reference, you can create entries that can hold all kinds of digital information such as file attachments, text, links, etc. You can then classify your entries into categories for easy findability.

Here's a look at the main eProductivity Reference screen...

The purpose of eProductivity Reference is to provide a convenient place to store all your non-actionable digital reference materials. Use it to keep your system in clean, tip-top shape.
Download and Setup
Again, eProductivity Reference is a separate Lotus Notes application. You can download an evaluation copy to play with (that link also provides a quick tour of the features). But when you're ready to use eProductivity Reference as part of your system, we recommend downloading the Reference template.

From the template, you have a couple of options. If you have a Lotus Notes Personal Journal (in Notes 8, called the Notebook), you can upgrade it with the template to turn it into eProductivity Reference. If you wish to sync your eProductivity Reference with another computer or with a mobile device, this is the way to go.

Alternatively, you can use the template to create a new, stand-alone eProductivity Reference application. This application will then only exist on your local computer, so make sure to back it up regularly.

The installation guides provide step-by-step instructions for all setup options.
Integrating with eProductivity
One of the best features of eProductivity Reference is that it can be integrated seamlessly with eProductivity. Once the integration is set up, you can drag emails directly into eProductivity Reference for fast filing, as well as quickly access eProductivity Reference if you need to find something, and much more. We'll show off more of these features in upcoming tip articles.

These instructions describe how to set this up.

For now, just note that once the integration is completed, you'll have a link to eProductivity Reference on your eProductivity navigator as shown below.
