Weekly Tip: Prioritizing Your Work with the Today View (part 4)
Share

So far in this series we've discussed how to flag items, how items automatically appear, and how flexible the Today View is compared to priority levels and follow-up flags.

This week we're going to tie it together with some closing thoughts.
The "Mini Daily Review"
The Today View is designed to be your daily dashboard and your flexible daily To-Do list all wrapped up into a single view. Working from the Today View helps you be project-driven and not just interrupt-driven.

One technique that pulls this together is the "Mini Daily Review". Ideally it's done each day. Here's how it works:
  1. First, consider using the Clear Flags button to start fresh with your Today View
  2. Then, scan your projects and actions lists to find items you'd like to work on 'today'
  3. Flag any items you find with the Today flag
Together with the items that appear automatically on your Today View, you've now created your To-Do list for today.

Plus, similar to using the The Weekly Review Coach to do a full Weekly Review, you've now got a better overall sense of your various commitments. It's a good, productive feeling to have.
Working from the Today View
Now that you've set up your Today View, use it to drive the rest of your day's work.

What's on your Today View represents either the things that you've selected are important to get done (by flagging them) or they're time-sensitive (so they show up automatically). By working from the Today View, you can trust that you're getting the right stuff done.

If something unexpected comes along that completely alters your day, simply hit 'Clear Flags' and start afresh!

As you accomplish the items on your Today View, mark them complete so they disappear. Hopefully at the end of the day, plus or minus a few calendar entries, your Today View will look like this!...

Until Next Week...
The Today View series is now over. Hopefully you've enjoyed it and picked up some good tips along the way. Next week we'll start a new topic...

If you have a tip to share or a topic you'd like to see covered, please let us know. We'd love to hear from you.
